Know dick about this game and am expecting input before making this wager.

Playing at 1753M elevation......7,349ft.
Mexico plays at 2240M in Mex city. Richer air for these dudes.

Mex is 80-1 to win it all +303 to win group
SA is 180-1 to win it all +617 to win group

Looks like a solid 2-1 favorite

Line is Mexico -110(tie is a push)

All over Mexicalies........talk me outta this please.

should work. if they draw, they draw. but chances of Mexico winning outright better than South Africa. pretty straightforward.

Mexico is the better team, but many people like South Africa here,
mainly because they are the host nation. Since home advantage
is huge in soccer and the hosts have never failed to qualify from
their group in the history of the world cup tourney. OTOH there
may have never been a weaker host nation.

I like South Africa...Mexico doesn't do it for me as they haven't faired well in the WC (except when it was in Mexico). Plus the home-advantage could ad in an edge to SA. Just my $.02.

Mexico has been out of the group stage in every WC since 94. They haven't fared well in the 2nd round though, losing every time.

The "home advantage" is already factored into the line.
People wagering that the home field gives a 2-1 edge to SA
That is why in is a PK rather than Mex -200ish

Thanxs to all for the input.......I'm wagering on this on now

Mexico -110 2 Units

I've read host nations tend to do well in their opener, but this isn't your average team.

Mexico +1.72 over SOUTH AFRICA PINNACLE
Traditionally the host team usually does well, especially in the opening match as the fans will be in a frenzy as this game kicks off. However, the Mexicans can make some noise in this tournament as they boast a lot of superior talent. Players such as Marquez, (Barcelona) Osorio, (Stuttgart) and Vela (Arsenal) should be able to provide more than enough to get all three points and one step closer to the round of 16. Mexico has also been very impressive in their friendly matches leading up to the world cup recently, stunning the defending champions Italy 2-1 in convincing fashion. Mexico has all the tools to progress to the next round and will look to get off to a flying start in the opening match of the 2010 World Cup. Play: Mexico +1.78 (Risking 2 units).

I know dick too, but as a Mexican, let me tell you this team is all hype and no soul, no way they beat the bafana bafana at home against a tough crowd, soccer is as crooked as it gets, and nothing is more crooked as mexico soccer league, probably already collected a few thousand dollars to drop the fucking game

saw on Betjm Mexico is -125 at PK with no bet for draw as an option. But then Mexico is +160 but also has the option to bet a draw. What happens if I bet Mexico at -125 and it is a draw? I just lose?

You are speaking of the spread line. If the game is a tie at the end of regulation, it is a push not a loss. If you play them on the moneyline and the game is a tie at the end of regulation, you lose because on the moneyline there is a draw option. Regulation time includes extra injury time added.

This is what I'm gonna blame it on when I lose my bet on Mexico. Thanks.
